Our Project
YEP’s journey of serving and learning begins in Singapore.
We have identified a children’s centre to bring our service to. At the same time, it helps us prepare for our actual project where we will be interacting with the Laotian children.
Name of Organisation: We will be working very closely with TOUCH Young Arrows (TYA). TYA is a children service of TOUCH Community Services
Pre-expedition
The objective of our pre-expedition is to interact, play and bring fun to the children from TOUCH Young Arrows through handicrafts learning. At the same time, the team aim to enrich the children by educating them about the children in Laos.
Post-expedition
We have planned to re-visit TOUCH Young Arrows and share with the children our experience in Laos. Also, to conduct a cultural gift exchange between the children in Laos and Singapore
Overseas Expedition
Our Project will take place in Laos, at a village called Ban Kern, which is about 2 hours drive away from the capital, Vientiane.

Rice Bank
It involves building a higher Rice Bank Structure in order to prevent the harvested rice from damage during flooding.
The rice that are harvested will be sold to International Volunteer associations in Laos such as the National Rehabilitation Centre at lower cost, to feed the students & patients. The earnings from here will then be reverted back to the Ban Kern villagers to invest in their duck and fish rearing trade, hence helping them create a self sustainable trade and at the same time benefiting their fellow Laotians.

Rehab Centre
At Ban Kern Village, we also intend to transfer some soft skills to the village children, such as teaching them simple English, Art & Craft and games.

Village Children
Should funds allow, we would like to improve the facilities & conditions of the Ban Kern Primary School, which houses 198 students, 9 teachers with 9 classrooms and only 1 toilet. Thus providing them a more conducive studying environment.
