Youth Expedition Project (YEP) was jointly initiated by the National Youth Council in 2000 to build World Ready Youth. (Since 2000, more than 12,000 young Singaporeans have taken up the challenge of a Youth Expedition Project to serve and learn in ASEAN, India and China)

Our Youth Expedition Project (YEP) is made possible and administered by the National Youth Council (NYC) and the funding is made possible by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and Tote Board (Singapore Totalisator Board). For more details, kindly visit www.yep.sg

YEP plays a supporting role by providing

  • Financial support;
  • Access to training course to interested participants planning to be leaders;
  • Leadership mentoring programme for new leaders.

Collaborating with overseas communities, volunteers provide support in areas like community income generation, education, environmental conservation, health care and technology transfer.

Every expedition is a learning adventure to interact with communities and tackle needs arising from issues related to the arts, culture and heritage, education, environment and conservation, healthcare, income generation, special needs, technology transfer and more.

With gained experiences and a strengthened community spirit, teams return with richer to enrich the lives of those in their own communities at home.

3 Phases of YEP

  1. Phase I is the Pre-Expedition preparation which includes a Service-Learning experience covering similar issues as the Acutal Expedition.
  2. Phase II is the overseas component which lasts from 14-21 days.
  3. Phase II is the Post-Expedition where the team re-connects with the community back in Singapore.
